TOPIC : WASTEWATER ODOR CONTROL: A PRESENTATION AND EVALUATION OF TECHNOLOGIES

In the modern world of wastewater treatment, control of odours has moved from an afterthought to a primary design consideration for most collection and treatment facilities. As development encroaches on our facilities and our new neighbours become less tolerant of nuisance odours, wastewater professionals have found the need to address odour as a primary concern in the design and in the operation of collection and treatment facilities. As the attention paid to odour control has increased, so has the number of odours control technologies that are available in the marketplace.

The presentation provides a comprehensive review of the technologies available for the control of odours in wastewater treatment facilities and provides a selection guide for the technologies based on parameters including treatment objectives, operational demands, capital cost, and operating cost. The vapour phase technologies presented are:

• Biofiltration, a biological technology with low operating costs.
• Wet Air Scrubbing, a reliable technology for chemical treatment.
• Adsorption, a well-established technology using a dry media.

Company Overview

Integrity Municipal Systems (IMS) is a specialty engineering company devoted to the design and supply of innovative, pre-assembled, process solutions for the water and wastewater industry.

Standard and customized Fluoride and Ammonia Feed Systems have been developed to fulfill a need in the drinking water industry for complete, packaged, fully-functional, delivery systems that are safe, user friendly, and incorporate the latest technologies and highest quality components.

Our paste-type slaking technology delivers more reactive, higher strength lime slurries at lower energy cost. Packaged systems integrate lime feeding and grit removal. New automated designs provide extended system life while reducing maintenance costs and operator attention.

Advanced dry media emergency vapor scrubber systems have been developed to protect workers and neighbors from the accidental release of chlorine gas and other harmful chemicals used in the water and wastewater industries. Compact, multiple stage odor control systems combine the low cost of biological oxidation with the high efficiency of activated carbon adsorption to provide the most effective odor control available. Pre-engineered designs speed up delivery, while improving reliability and reducing cost.

Every system is backed with an enhanced spare parts delivery and response system that keeps plants up and running. With over 20 years of experience, the IMS field service team has the knowledge and dedication to tackle any issues that arise with your emergency scrubber and odor control systems. From routine maintenance to full system rebuilds, we get it done. IMS has achieved a reputation for producing unique, practical, and cost-effective solutions for our customers. We are committed to providing quality, service, and overall value that exceed your expectations.
