Thamer S. Al-Mutairi
President

Thamer earned his BSc. in Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals ( KFUPM) and earned his MSc. in Environmental Science from Texas University in the USA. In addition, he holds a Professional Engineering license. Thamer has 17 years of experience in Saudi Aramco and is currently managing the Water Conservation. His area of expertise includes design, construction, operations, maintenance, and inspection of water and wastewater treatment systems. He participated in solving and troubleshooting various wastewater systems and was instrumental in developing an innovative patented technology to treat oily wastewater for re-use. During the last three years, while managing all aspects of water conservation, his main focus was evaluating and promoting alternate water sources to groundwater. Thamer has delivered many successful lectures in water conferences and events, and has created several impactful water conservation related presentations in effort to emphasize the need to find solutions to the water scarcity challenge that is facing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and sharing Saudi Aramco’s accomplishments in this regard.

Nidhal S. Al-Dossary
Vice President

Nidhal is a Chemist and earned his BA in Chemistry from the University of Toledo, Ohio, USA in 1999. His career started with Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation. He then joined the Saudi Aramco company in 2000 and has held the following positions, Lab Supervisor of the Sanitary Operation Unit. In 2003 he transferred to the Water Treatment Group of the Technical Support Division. Now in the Utilities Department he is currently serving as the Foreman of the Sanitary Operations Unit and the Environmental Coordinator.

Abdullah A. Al-Ammar
Treasurer

Currently working as Chemical Engineer for wastewater and water treatment plant for Saudi Aramco Utilities Department. He worked as a DCS Operator in Petrochemical Facilities at SABIC. Education: B.S Chemical Engineering, KFUPM and A.D Chemical Engineering & Process Technology, JIC-RC

Abdul Hamid Mansour
Director

Abdulhamid Mansour holds a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Petroleum and Minerals University, Dhahran, and a Master’s Degree in engineering management from Northeastern University, Boston. He has attended management programs at Harvard, Wharton and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has worked for the Saudi Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) for 25 years and was appointed General Manager for all SWCC Eastern Province activities. He has published numerous technical papers in different desalination and HVAC conferences. In 2003 he was elected President of the International Desalination Association (IDA) and served 2 years.

Michael Kennedy
General Secretary

Michael is a Capital Projects Engineer with Community Services Project Support Department at Saudi Aramco. Michael has a Masters Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering; a LEED Accreditation and is a listed Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute. He has over 20 years of professional experience in both consulting and private enterprise. The majority of Michael’s experience has been focused on the design, construction and start-up of water and wastewater treatment and transmission facilities of all sizes and technical complexity.

Mohammad H. Al-Abdulatif
Assistant Director/WEF Delegate

Mohammad is currently serving as a Technical Advisor for the Utilities Department and with over 25 years of experience with Saudi Aramco. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Environmental Management from Utah Valley State University in the USA. Mohammad is the first Saudi Arabian recipient of the Water Environment Federation “Arthur Sidney Bedell Award” for his extraordinary personal service to the Saudi Arabian Water Environment Association which is a Member Association of WEF.

Mahmoud Al-Moaikel
Events Coordinator

Mahmoud is currently serving as the Supervisor, Water and Sanitary Operations Unit, Saudi Aramco, Utilities Department. Previous positions with Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Environmental Management from Utah Valley State University in the USA. And his Bachelor of Business Administration is from King Fahd University. Mahmoud received the 2014 WEF Public Education Award in the Individual Category.

Webmaster

Khaled is currently working as Technical Advisor P&PL for Saudi Aramco Utilities & Technical Support Department. Headed the SAP implementation program and supervised the Computer & SAP System Support in U&TSD. Education: BS Business Administration from King Faisal University.

Dr. Subhi M. Al-Jeshi
Desalination Technology Advisor

Dr. Subhi Al-Jeshi is a water treatment specialist in Saudi Aramco. He got his B Sc in Chemical Engineering from KFUPM, Saudi Arabia, and PhD from the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Herriot Watt University, Scotland, specialized in water Desalination. Subhi has 17 years of experience in water treatment and desalination field. His field experience included working in different industrial locations such as Saudi Petrochemical Company, SADAF, Ras Tanura Refinery and Berri Gas Plant in addition to working for one year for VEOLIA Water, UK, designing RO membrane plants. Currently Subhi works for Consulting Services Department, in Dhahran providing technical support to all Aramco industrial facilities for more than 12 years. Subhi has evaluated and introduced many new technologies to Saudi Aramco.

Subhi Aama
Wastewater Management Technical Advisor

Subhi is a Sr. Environmental Engineer in Wastewater Management Unit / Water Treatment & Conservation Division of EPD of Saudi Aramco. and has supervised and lead the technical reviews of wastewater treatment and reuse projects, technologies, equipment, and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) studies for industrial and sanitary wastewaters of Saudi Aramco plants and facilities for water conservation and reuse employing different wastewater technologies. He has written publications in the International Technical Environmental and Water Journals and Conferences; Water Research, Environmental Technology Letters, WEFTEC, Enviro Arabia, and Water Arabia. He is certified as a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) and earned his Master Degree in Environmental Engineering and Water Resources from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran and his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering is from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Jubran Al-Qahtani
Water Management Technical Advisor

Jubran has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He is in the TSD/UESU/Water Treatment Group in Saudi Aramco. Has over 10 years of experience in Water and Wastewater. And currently serves as Process Engineer for the R.O. Plant in Dhahran & the North Sewage Treatment Plant in Dhahran.

Mohammed Al-Hajri

Mohammed is currently serving as an Environmental Engineer Specialist for the Saudi Aramco Environmental Protection Department. Previous position with Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation. He earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). And his MS was in Environmental Engineering from Colorado State University, USA. Mohammed is a certified Consultant Engineer by the Saudi Society of Engineers.

Dr. Cevat Yaman
Education Academia Liaison

Dr. Yaman received his master and PhD degrees from Drexel University (USA) in Environmental Engineering. He worked at MT Associates (NJ, USA), Roux Associates (NJ, USA) and RT Environmental Services (PA, USA) as an environmental engineer. After returning back to his home country (Turkey), Dr Yaman worked as Deputy General Manager in the Ministry of Environment, as Head of Environmental Protection Department in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and as a faculty member at Gebze Technical University. Dr Yaman is currently working at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, Environmental Engineering Department.His main research areas include remediation of contaminated sites, waste management and greenhouse gas control.

Esam Al-Sayid
Membership Coordinator

Esam has over 20 years of experience in environmental engineering for industrial air quality, water handling and treatment primarily in the Oil and Gas industries. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in 1998 and a Master Degree in Chemical Engineering from California State University, USA in 2008. He is a Certified and Qualified Environmental Professional. Has worked as a Supervisor of the Air Quality Unit and in the Wastewater Management Unit at the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) for Saudi Aramco. Esam has delivered innovative solutions that are not only efficient but also greatly cost-effective

Brett Boyd
Newsletter Coordinator

Brett received a 5-year BSChE from University of Florida in 1983. He manufactured water and wastewater chemicals, performed R&D in oil and gas well drilling technologies, and spent over 20 years in R&D, designing, and troubleshooting water and wastewater equipment for municipal and industrial applications. Mr. Boyd has a number of patents and inventions in environmental, oil & gas drilling, and water and wastewater equipment fields. Mr. Boyd has been with Saudi Aramco’s Facilities Planning Department as a Planning Specialist in Infrastructure, Budge, and Automation and Power Divisions since 2010.

William Conner
North American Coordinator

William earned his BS Chemical Engineering from BYU MBA –St. Ambrose University Licensed P.E. in Iowa. In Louisiana QEP & DEE received his Environmental Certifications. He was awarded the Arthur Sidney Bedell Award in 2012 for all his contributions to SAWEA. William is a licensed Professional Engineer and Board Certified Environmental Engineer in Water Supply and Wastewater. With over 35 years of experience in engineering with a focus on wastewater treatment, environmental, health and safety as pertaining to operations in the petrochemicals and specialty chemical industries. 21 of these years were with EPD in Saudi Aramco.. He has a number of patents for wastewater treatment systems that provide enhanced for wastewater treatment systems that provide enhanced biological treatment needed to meet complex wastewater treatments needs.

Greg Welch
General Board Member

Greg is Director of Water for WorleyParsons’s Saudi Arabia and Bahrain operations. He has over 30 years’ experience in business development, project management and design, primarily in the fields of water and wastewater treatment, infrastructure planning and environmental engineering. Greg holds a B.A. Sc. in Civil Engineering from UBC in Canada, and is also a licensed professional engineer in Ontario, Canada.

Ibrahim Nemer
General Board

Ibrahim earned his B.S Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) in 2013. He started working in KBR-AMCDE Design office. Then he joined Saudi Aramco, where he is a Chemical Engineer currently, assigned with the Community Services Technical Support department. Within his tenure at Saudi Aramco he has been with multiple departments all in the field of Water and Wastewater treatment engineering, providing technical support to the industrial facilities and company residential areas.

Nidal Samad
General Board

Nidal is a Senior Environmental Scientist at Saudi Aramco. He holds four degrees: BS in Chemistry from the Lebanese University, BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology ( FIT) and a MS in Environmental Science (FIT). He owns 24 patents, mainly water and wastewater treatment related. Nidal has over 14 years of experience with Ozone Oxidation Processes in particular and Advanced Oxidation Processes in general. Has served as a member of the Industrial Advisory Board of the Chemical Engineering Department at FIT. Has also served as an expert panel member for the development of ozone testing protocol for NSF International. And he is a QEP certified and IRCA Certified Lead Auditor ISO 14001:2015.

Mohammed A. Al-Hajjy
General Board

Mohammed earned his B Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He has 21 years of professional experience in different departments within Saudi Aramco. Out of which 19 years were spent in water treatment and desalination facilities. And has been involved in reviewing several design packages for RO plants and water treatment programs. Was heavily involved in designing, construction and commissioning of RO Plant for Abqaiq Plants facilities. Has also been involved in several troubleshooting and investigation tasks for RO plants, industrial steam boilers and water treatment programs. He is a member of Water Conservation team in Saudi Aramco. Mohammed is currently working for the Consulting Services Department, in Dhahran providing technical support to all the water treatment facilities.

Raghed Mallouhi
General Board Member

Raghed earned his B.Sc. degree in 1991, in Mechanical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran. He has 25 years of experience in the field of water and waste water treatment. In addition, his experience covers municipal and industrial sectors. He joined Veolia Water Technologies in 1992 as Mechanical Engineer. He is now Sales Manager O&G division of Veolia Saudi Arabia.
